Pila Podhora - History and today
Pila PODHORA was founded in 1992. The dynamic development of the company in following years was initiated as we acquired a factory building with a gangsaw in Holohlavy.
At the beginning the sawmill's activities were focused particularly on sawing spruce and pine boles and the sale of timber for construction especially in the Czech Republic, later abroad as well (Austria, Germany).
Next important point in the development of Pila PODHORA was the year 1994 when we started manufacturing wood for sounding boards. Dimension wood for sounding boards have become an important part of our assortment and according to a sophisticated technologie they represent our speciality.
Due to increasing demand for kiln dried lumber for joinery the company expanded in 1995 and started to buy respective round timber, to saw and finally kiln dry the lumber for joinery. That is why in 1996 we built our first 2 dry kilns of wood (next 3 dry kilns were built in the year 2000).
In 1999 Pila PODHORA Ltd. was founded.
Thanks to continuous investment in our own premises and technology Pila PODHORA is today a well established company that offers large range of timber wood for construction, kiln dried lumber for joinery as well as sprucewood for sound boards, all in sufficient volumes in order to satisfy needs of our customers.
The volume of wood processed in our sawmill per year is about 9000 m3. The lumber is manufactured out of round timber that we buy in Czech foothills and mountain areas. At the moment we purchase the majority of round timber from the state enterprise Forests of the Czech Republic.
Our customers range from "handymen" through joinery and construction companies all the way to some of the chain stores or musical instruments manufacturers.
